Due to the "inland hurricane" that struck the highway 13 corridor of southern Illinois, power is out at the main Shawnee HQ in Carterville. We are running limited services out of emergency facilities and will try to bring more online as we can.

**Complete** Tuesday, Sept 30; Outage for Shawnee

Mediacom, our fiber optics provider to the Illinois Century Network, has called to notify us of an outage on Sept 30, 2008. This outage will be for about 1 hour, but they don't have an exact time that it will start. The outage will be during normal business hours.

SILNET Outage Sunday Sept 14

Thanks to Hurricane Ike, the Shawnee Library System lost power at about 10am on Sunday 9/14/08. Power was out until about 2pm and at that point all webservices resumed. Dynix and IPac were not fully restored until 4:30pm.

Specifications for Donated Computers

Because of an increased number of computers being donated to libraries, it has become apparent that a list of minimum specifications needs to be established for these machines. This is to protect your library against accepting machines that are old and not something you would want running on your network. If the computer meets the specs outlined below, then the computer will be eligible for all services that Shawnee and Lazerware offer to the other computers in your library. The machine will be given a very low priority in our Lazerware helpdesk Queue until it has been brought up to the level of your other library computers. Once it is put into production, it will have full support.

iPac Upgrade

Have you noticed that the limiting features in the iPac Power search work? The recent upgrade to iPac fixed the problem so try out the power search features. You may have also noticed that "My List" feature doesn't drop titles any longer. The upgrade also improved administrative features of the software.
